Music Library

MiuTunes organizes your music in the MiuTunes music library. This enables you to browse your music collection in various grouping.

When you launch MiuTunes for the first time, you will be asked to perform a full scan of your media card. This will add music in your media card to the music library.

Scan

MiuTunes will only scan your music in the music root folder and its subfolders. If you want to change the music root folder, click Options on the menu and then click Music root on the menu to toggle between different settings.

When there are changes in your media card, MiuTunes will modify the music library automatically. In normal cases, you are not required to do anything manually.

However, if you want to force MiuTunes to update the music library immediately after you add new music or change the music root folder, you can perform a quick or a full rescan of your media card:

  1. Click Artwork & Library on the menu.
  2. Click Rescan Music Folder (Quick) or Rescan Music Folder (Full) on the menu.

If you know the particular folder that contains the changes, you can also scan the folder only:

  1. Click Explore to Folder.
  2. Select the folder you want to update.
  3. Click Scan This Folder on the menu.

Browsing and Playing Music

After your music have been added to the MiuTunes music library, you can start browsing and playing your music.

Unlike a folder view, MiuTunes allows you to find and access your music in different views. As you notice in the MiuTunes main screen, there are Artwork, Albums, Artists, Songs, Genres and Years views. Roll your trackball and click one of them. This will bring you to the selected view.

Main Screen

Trackball is used intensively in MiuTunes. You can roll your trackball to flip through your album artworks. Click your trackball to perform a default action, such as navigating to the next screen or flipping an album artwork.

MiuTunes allows you to play your music in various grouping. Just select the item you want to play, it can be either an album artwork or an artist. Press the SPACE key to start playing the selected group of music.

While playing the music, you can press the SPACE key to pause the player or hold the SPACE key for a short while to stop the player. To skip the current playing song and go to the next song, press ENTER key.

If you prefer to play your music in shuffle mode, press Alt-S to toggle the shuffle mode on/off.

However, there is only one active playlist in the system and you can only add songs to the active playlist. If you want to add songs to another playlist, go to the Playlists screen by pressing Alt-L and make the playlist as an active playlist first.

Like playing music, you can also add various grouping of music to the active playlist by pressing Alt key and click your trackball after selecting an item.

  1. Navigate to the music or the album you want to display its information.
  2. Press SYM key.

  6. On the the same screen, set the permission of User Data/Files to Allow.
